What should my Child or I wear for the first karate class?

Sweat pants, shorts, t-shirt, whatever is comfortable. They can wear socks or they can go without socks - their choice.    When they sign up for a membership they will receive a custom white uniform.

If I have two or more children is there a discount?

Yes. Each additional child that signs up will receive 25% off the primary membership charge.

Is there a Parent discount?

Yes. Each parent will receives a 44% discount off of the primary membership. This discount is in effect as their child is taking karate. If the child stops taking karate, the membership reverts to the primary membership.

How often should my child attend karate?

When you sign up for a membership you are entitled to 2 classes per week, for a total of 8 classes for each month.

You are no locked into any specific days. You have 4 classes each week to choose for your childs age group and belt ranks. You can choose which ever days fit your schedule the best.

Are parents required to stay in the school while their child attends class?

While a lot of parents do stay, and enjoy watching class, parents are not required to remain in the dojo. However, please do not leave siblings unattended in waiting room.

What if I sign up and then go on vacation?

If you will be away for two weeks or longer, please inform the Sensei’s as soon as you are aware of the dates and we will freeze your memberships until you return. We do not want you paying for classes that you will be unable able to take.

Will karate make my child violent?

To Quote Dr. Belisa Vranich who is a Clinical Psychologist and expert at the Gold’s Gym Fitness Institute.     “Kid’s Martial Arts classes teach quite the opposite – control, discipline and respect. I have found that children who take classes in judo, karate or capoeira pay better attention and are more focused. Unlike those who watch fighting on TV or videos, they have a realistic idea of what is takes to train and compete. Enroll your daughters while you’re at it; they need it sometimes even more, for different reasons!’

My child can only come once a week. Is there a karate membership for that?

Our program is most effective when you attend 2 classes per week. We strongly encourage each student to come twice it week.

However we fully understand that due to scheduling issue, a child may only be able to attend 1 class per week, so we do have a program available for these situations.

We understand Karate is a commitment, however no child should be deprived of the benefits of the martial arts, if they can only comes once a week.

When does a new karate program start?

Your membership starts when the student starts. The student will never feel behind in class, they will always be put in the correct group will learn all the required techniques for their belt rank.

Does my child have to spar?

Sparring begins when the student reaches the rank of Orange Belt, while sparring is not required for belt tests until Green we strongly encourage students start sparring at Orange Belt so that they begin to learn how to use the required techniques.

If I cannot make it to the appropriate belt class can I attend any other class?

If you cannot attend your regular class you are allowed to attend a lower belt class. If you attend a lower belt class, expect to be working on techniques you already know. This is great for a review.
